China Extrapolating past real GDP growth rates into the future, the size of the Chinese economy surpasses that of the U.S. in purchasing power terms between 2012 and 2015; by 2025, China is likely to be the world's largest economic power by almost any measure. According to China Education International Cooperation Group, the number of high school and college graduates is expected to hit a record high of 14.8 million and 5.5 million this year in China and the number of students going abroad for studies is estimated to reach 200,000 in 2008. Statistics indicate that the number of university going students in China has increased rapidly in recent years, from 1.08 million in 1998 to over 17 million in 2003. Last year the number of Chinese students in the US increased by 8.2%. China is the second largest sending country – surpassed only by India – and its vibrant economy will continue to enable students to pursue degrees in the U.S. US embassies and consulates in China issued more than 400,000 visas, including 52,000 for students, from late 2006 to late 2007. Because of Actovian's local presence in China and its relationships with key Chinese schools, local educational advisers, U.S. Embassy staff and the Foreign Commercial Service, we know how to target marketing efforts to attract an excellent number of highly qualified candidates to our University Fairs.
