Global Health

How can public and private institutions with traditional structures and organizational behaviors address public health crises on a global scale? The challenges they face—global competitiveness, health and environmental risks, inadequate infrastructure—can no longer be solved by organizations acting alone. Health and development are inextricably linked. Investment in health benefits individuals, families, communities, and economies by improving people’s ability to learn and lead productive lives.

Public health issues facing the global community today are as urgent as they are complex. In 2007, an estimated 33.2 million people were living with HIV, 2.5 million were newly infected, and 2.1 million died of AIDS, according to AVERT. Each year, malaria kills more than 1 million people and afflicts as many as 500 million worldwide. The deaths of 1.6 million people are attributed to tuberculosis each year and the risk of new, multi-drug resistant forms of the disease could push this number higher in the future.

Actovian works with global and local organizations to help achieve critical public health missions. We are sensitive to the challenges that health organizations face today, such as strategy setting, growth strategy development, design of operations, funding and regulation, stakeholder and donor relationship management, governance, and risk management. Actovian is active in efforts to combat diseases that affect the developing world, including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and diarrheal diseases.

Actovian's unique blend of public, private, and not-for-profit healthcare experience allows us to leverage best practices and deep functional skills across the sectors. We work with a diverse mix of organizations—from corporations to non-governmental organizations and from those focused on prevention to those targeting diagnosis and treatment. We work with clients in developing strategies to tackle neglected diseases and recommending options for collaboration among foundations, international organizations, NGOs, and companies and enhancing collaborations and partnerships across global health efforts.
