India

The U.S. continues to be the international destination of choice for Indian students, who comprise the largest number of international students in the U.S. In 2007, the US saw a slight 9.6% increase in the number of Indian students studying in the US (83,833). Indian Government encourages Indian students pursuing excellence in higher education to continue to enroll in U.S. colleges and universities. The word that the student visa system is functioning smoothly has reached Indian students, dispelling concerns that had arisen after 9/11.

Actovian expects to see Indian students enrolling in a larger number of U.S. institutions in the coming years because of strong Indian economy and a high number of young population. However, in the recent year competition to attract students from India is strong. Canadian and European universities are becoming very aggressive in going after South Asian students. For a variety of economic, political and educational reasons, leaders of American colleges are finding it increasingly worth their time to visit India, where they are trying to attract more students, negotiate distance learning agreements, set up joint ventures and raise money.

Actovian offers an efficient and cost-effective means of presenting the American and Canadian universities and colleges to Indian institutions and to prospective Indian students through our tours and fairs. The tour will be a fast-paced, hard working program, which provides representatives with valuable exposure and brings visibility to their institutions. The tour will take the participants to some of the major educational cities of the sub-continent.

Through our extensive relationships with key schools, local educational advisers, U.S. Embassy staff and the Foreign Commercial Service, we know how to target marketing efforts to attract an excellent number of highly qualified candidates to our University Fairs.
